What's the deal with water?
Water is one of six nutrients that are necessary for survival. Out of the six, it is by far the most important.
It's a Global Crisis
Even though in some countries it seems that there is an endless supply of water, the world is in a crisis. One out of six people in the world lack access to adequate drinking water and two out of six people lack access to adequate sanitation.
But lack of water is not just a problem in developing countries; it can happen anywhere. In the United States, California, as well as other western states, is facing a water shortage and the remaining supply of water is drying up. At the moment, everything seems okay since we still have access to safe, clean water and proper sanitation. But we need to start conserving water before it is too late.
10 Ways to Save Water
1. Turn off the shower while lathering shampoo
2. Turn off the water while brushing your teeth
3. Collect rainwater to water your garden
4. Install a low-flow shower head
5. Water the lawn at night to avoid evaporation
6. Position the sprinklers so they water the grass, not the gutter.
7. Run your washing machine only when doing large loads
8. Replace your grass with drought-resistant plants.
9. Water your lawn in the early morning to prevent evaportation
10. Use a broom to clean off driveways and paths instead of a hose.
